This was for training conducted online, rather than by visiting a training location. For a one-day course, the trainer did a good job of fitting in all the required training elements and dealing with individual queries from the virtual attendees. This course offered a good, basic overview of SolidWorks' Photoview 360 rendering features.

Product : Great course with informative and useful content. We spent a little time at the beginning of the course to introduce ourselves and our roles, which made the learning process even more interesting in understanding how other professionals might use the tools we perhaps might not need in our own work.

Thanks for providing feedback about the PhotoView rendering course. I am sure you saw quickly that the training material used for this course differs vastly from our other modules. It can sometimes be difficult to translate into the classroom environment (also because the books are a little dated too). We have put pressure on SOLIDWORKS Corp to revise this but are still awaiting a positive outcome. Not that this is a substitutes but we do have a lot of online resource on our MySolidSolutions site with focuses video content into many parts of the rendering workflow. I very much value your comments and I am sure there are things we can do to structure the day in the classroom better whilst sending you away with the self paced structure of the manual.

Appreciate what Solidsolutions are trying to do but feel course would be better suited to 2 days...
Distractions for the group, not the trainer, from some participants who were obviously well versed in what the course was intended to show and were only interested in getting their attendance certificate.
Feedback Response: Hi Steve, apologies for the delayed reply and thanks for the feedback. The PV360 course format and structure is a contentious one for us in terms of our delivery. We took the decision to make it a classroom course because of the popularity although with this format the book would need a complete rewrite to allow it to flow far better. We should be seeing an update to this (it is actually 2013 course material) with the impending release of the other render engine SolidWorks will have in the new year- SOLIDWORKS Visualise. We tend to find with rendering that since it is a subjective topic in that there is no right or wrong answer that the classroom course allows you to uncover the fundamentals of the software, paired with the trainer's know how to set you off on the right track, but even so there is a lot of trial and error with it. I agree if we were to have a better structured lesson plan I think the course would be 2 days long, I guess we have waited for SW to update the training material themselves when it may have been better to do this in house. It would take a lot to sit down and write a syllabus though but perhaps it is a subject that has come on so much since the book's release that this would be a good investment of time. I am sorry you felt there were some distractions in the room, when I used to teach it was always uncomfortable as a trainer being put in a position as to whether you intervene and potentially embarrass the culprits- I always used to interrupt to simply ask if the individuals were okay or had any questions and knowing I was watching tended to improve things. I hope the experience didn't detract too much from your learning and you have been able to gain the knowledge you needed in this field- we have some useful webinars to complement the material too, which may be worth exploring. Service Rating :Excellent presentation even for a complete novice. Gave individual attention as required so no one left behind.
Product : Very good content from the basics of FEA. As stated in course book 3 days is the minimum duration suggested, and as normal for these courses you are hard pushed to complete all the exercises. Suggest that you attempt those exercises that are most relevant to you.

Service Rating :Although I thought that my life was complete Jack found the hole that needed to be filled by a a good old nerd out session and although only 3 of us needed this (or even understood), it is nice to see that solid solutions are training there staff to overachieve and provide a necessary and widely required resource. He found a way to make the normally depressing and mournful experience of being away from friends and family into a 3 day holiday where my sprite was found and my knowledge honed. I now think that my life goals have been finally accomplished
