Applications Engineer: Manufacturing

The Opportunity
We are looking for an Applications Engineer to join our manufacturing team, with a focus on Woodworking and joinery. This role will be responsible for delivering multifaceted CAE software solutions to our customer base, while also supporting the commercial and wider technical team, with your industry knowledge.

The role covers the south of England, the Midlands along with Wales and there may occasionally be travel further afield, including Ireland and Scotland. While we offer some flexibility in working, you will need to be able to commute to one of our offices at Kenilworth, Fareham, Aylesbury or Caldicot.

Job Description
The Key accountabilities of the role:
  • Providing Training and Support to customers.
  • Advising customers on best practice principles.
  • The delivery of bespoke systems to the customer.
  • Supporting the commercial team to ensure customers receive the correct products.
  • Using your specialist knowledge to support other members of the technical team.
  • Product demonstrations.
  • Occasional travel and staying away from home will be required as part of this role.
Your Experience / Skills
Essential skills
  • At least 3 years industry experience from a furniture, joinery or related background.
  • Experience with a furniture based CAD/CAM product; including but not limited to Cabinet Vision, Alphacam, TopSolid or other.
  • Must have some experience with either training or supervising other members of staff.
  • Experience of utilising wood routers with at least 1 of the following: Solid Wood, Laminates, MFC, MDF or plastics.
  • High level of self-discipline and pride that is reflected in quality of work.
  • Proficient with MS office suite.
  • Ability to work unsupervised to deadlines.
Desirable but not essential
  • Previous applications experience.
  • Coding skills (VBA, VB.Net, Javascript, Html, CSS, C#)
  • SOLIDWORKS Experience.
  • Experience operating or programming CNC machine
  • Experience with WOODWOP, BiesseWorks, BSolid, Xilog, Maestro or other CNC control software
  • Experience writing post processors or debugging G-code/CNC programs
