The Opportunity
As a Solid Solutions Graduate you have a great opportunity to use your skills to help develop and support some of the UK’s most innovative companies. Understanding how diverse industry sectors manage their product data to develop their products means you are never short of personal challenges, new experiences and opportunities to travel.

As a part of our 2019 Graduate PDM Programme, you will undergo a structured 12 months programme that will provide you with the tools and skills to progress to a specialist role in Solid Solutions. During the Programme, you will be supervised by a mentor, and will work with a range of internal experts, with relevant on the job learning and internal training.

Following this programme, you will be able to provide specialist PDM consultancy to customers to support their product development and design strategies.

Job Description
Our customers increasingly invest in Product Data Management (PDM ) systems as a driver of business success. PDM enables a company’s Intellectual Property (particularly design information and CAD data) to be controlled and managed efficiently - enabling security and traceability plus quick and easy search, retrieval and reuse.

PDM systems themselves requires careful design and implementation by people who understand both the software and the customer’s specific business processes. Therefore, a career in PDM will challenge your technical skills, grow your knowledge of how businesses operate and enable you to help our customers transform their processes successfully. This role has an impact!

Our PDM team is expanding rapidly and the specialist consultancy we offer is in high demand. No one month is the same as another, as we respond to customer projects and offer bespoke solutions.
  • If successful you will work in a team of PDM Specialists where you will provide consultancy services enabling successful SOLIDWORKS PDM implementations, training and technical support.
  • You will work with our customers to define and deliver SOLIDWORKS PDM based solutions on time and within budget, whilst ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • You will provide our customers with world-class technical support on queries relating to SOLIDWORKS PDM and its associated infrastructure, troubleshoot to find optimal solutions via the telephone, email or “one to one” using collaborative web-based support services.
  • You may also be involved in the specification, development, testing and delivery of custom add-ins using PDM and SOLIDWORKS API’s.
  • You may also be asked to deliver classroom, and occasionally, on premise, training to customers on the use and administration of SOLIDWORKS PDM systems.
Developing Your Skills
  • Consultancy on PDM implementation and data migration
  • Implementation of PDM systems and data migration at customer sites in UK
  • Specification of specialist software associated with bespoke customer solutions
  • Delivery of PDM demonstrations

  • Customer support for PDM queries
  • Expanding your personal technical knowledge, transferring skills and promoting technical expertise to support internal &/or external partners
You will be fully supported by a range of training courses and mentoring. You will be exposed to a wide range of exciting new developments and be at the cutting edge of Product Data Management, 3D CAD and its related technologies.

Required skills and attributes:
  • You will have a relevant degree (Engineering, Design, Computing, Maths, Business Studies or similar) and a strong academic record
  • A valid driving license is required
  • Experience or qualifications working with Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL Server and/or Windows Networking services would be advantageous, but are not mandatory
  • Experience using SOLIDWORKS PDM, SOLIDWORKS or other CAD systems is not essential, as training will be provided
  • Physical requirements of the job may include sitting or standing for extended period; walking; some lifting and carrying of objects up to 25 Kgs; typing/use of keyboard and phone; ability to travel to customer sites locally and occasional longer distance trips with overnight stay required.

The Solid Solutions Graduate PDM Programme is a 12-month programme, learning and working intensively within our energetic team of PDM specialists. The programme will equip you with highly in-demand technical skills, plus skills in Project Management, Change Processes, Business Control and Business Consultancy. The programme will prepare you for a specialist technical career or a broader business consultancy career.

Stage 1: PDM Standard
  • Training and Certification for PDM Standard
  • Training and Certification for SOLIDWORKS product portfolio
  • Shadow then deliver customer PDM standard implementations
  • Deliver PDM Standard training to customers
  • Provide Customer Support for PDM technical help requests
  • Shadow then deliver customer PDM demonstrations
  • Shadow then deliver customer PDM migrations
Stage 2: PDM Professional
  • Training and Certification for PDM Professional
  • Shadow then deliver standard customer implementations of PDM Professional
  • Shadow then deliver bespoke customer implementation consultancy
  • Deliver PDM Professional training to customers
  • Provide Customer Support for advanced PDM technical help requests
  • Shadow then deliver complex customer PDM demonstrations
  • Create macros, add-ins and bespoke applications for customer requirements
  • Deliver consultancy on multi-product SOLIDWORKS combinations such as PDM with SOLIDWORKS Electrical or SOLIDWORKS Composer
Stage 3: SOLIDWORKS Manage
  • Manage is a new advanced data management tool that leverage PDM Professional and adds project, process and item management capabilities with interactive dashboards and reports
  • Opportunity to build specialist skills in a stratic new product
Programme Structure and Locations: 12 Month Programme
  • 3 - 9 months - Leamington Spa with travel to customer locations
  • 3 - 9 months - Furness Vale with travel to customer locations
  • 3 - 9 months - Haddenham with travel to customer locations
The exact time spend in each location will be defined for each person individually to create the ideal individual best learning plan.
